  • Moving and handling people in a way that reduces the effort required of the carer
  • Moving and handle people in a manner that gives the client the greatest comforfort and dignity.
  • Understand how manual handling legislation applies to care workers
  • Gain a better understanding of the spine and how it works
  • Take care of your own back and that of clients and other staff
  • Carry out risk assessments for clients
  • Move people safely with and without the use of people handling equipment

  • Safe Lifting risk assessment- T.I.L.E
  • Lifting inanimate Objects
  • Risk Assessments
  • Equipment including slide sheets, handling belts, hand blacks, transfer boards, hoists and slings.
  • Stopping the use of Controversial Techniques

Duration and Assessment

One day 6 hour course (excluding breaks)

On going practical assesemtn throught the day
