Having the correct paediatric first aid provision is not only a statutory requirement for the majority of childcare providers, it is extremely important for the safety of children. The QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification is ideal for those who work or intend to work in a childcare setting as it is been specifically designed to fulfil Ofsted’s first aid requirements for early years teachers, nursery workers and childminders. Successful candidates will learn the roles and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider, and will be equipped with the necessary skills to administer safe and effective treatment when dealing with a range of paediatric first aid situations.

Paedatric First Aid

From 1st September 2014 you will no longer need to use a local authority approved trainer.

It is now the responsibility of the early years provider to select a training company. It is preferred that this company delivers a nationally approved and accredited first aid qualification. See the Statutory Framework

We have delivered a regulated Paediatric first aid course for many years and as of 1st September will be offering the new Level 3 award in Paediatric First Aid from Qualsafe who are the UK largest first aid awarding body. This course covers the St John Ambulance and Red Cross paediatric first aid content.

This is a 12-hour course delivered over two days or 4 evenings. The course is designed for workers caring for children in the absence of parents. Suitable for child minders who need to comply with Ofsted Paediatric First Aid Requirements. First aid for child minders.

The Ofqual qualification number is 601/3193/7 follow the link for full details. This new level 3 award is worth 3 credits. Whilst the guided learning hours are quoted as 16 hours the contact time will remain the same at 12 hours.

The certificate must be renewed every three years.
